Has there been a time when you have imagined your life to become somebody else’s? Did you ever idolise any characters from real or reel life? If yes, I am sure these characters’ popularity can be oversimplified because they are probably badass/awesome/very similar adjective. But the truth is, each of them have specific fleshed-out personality traits that many people want for themselves to accomplish various goals in their lives. A lot of characters are initially appealing, but these became classics because they’re developed with complex, but very real personalities that average people desire.
Today’s post is an homage to my recent fictional idol ‘Miriam “Midge” Maisel,’—the titular character of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel television series, a smart, ambitious, funny, hard-working, determined, indomitable housewife based out of New York in the 1950’s. She stakes her heartbreak into a stand-up comedy career, and learns to navigate her newfound independence in a patriarchal culture. She is the heart of the party and rightfully ‘marvelous’! Apart from her personality traits, there’s one more thing that speaks Midge’s story of self reinvention – her love for fashion! Transforming herself through her style and accessories is her way of life. Her nonconformity is reflected through her clothing – which are brightly coloured and rich-hued frocks and cardigans, adhering to the show’s 50’s period.
To match up to her style, I am wearing a knife pleated emerald dress. Pleats are versatile in nature — they can be both formal and informal depending on how you incorporate them in your outfit. The fluid ease of the knife pleats movement makes it a winner in the aesthetic department and brings about a soft, ultra-feminine look . The forgiving fit and no-ironing-required silhouette don’t hurt either. And then imagine how great you’ll look carelessly swirling in it at that big New Year’s eve party this weekend! You just have to bring out that marvellous in you!
Till next time! xoxo
